Introduction
Homerun is a Minecraft server plugin that lets you reset the world under specific conditions. Though Homerun can reset your entire server world, it can be set to keep specific chunks or regions intact. With Minecraft 1.18's chunk blending functionality, Homerun can reset your world while keeping the borders with kept chunks smooth and natural.
Homerun works for 1.21.4 and above. Updates for the plugin are provided for servers running Minecraft 1.21.11. More information on supported versions can be found in the Development section on GitHub. MCKotlin (GitHub) is required for Homerun to work.
Homerun directly modifies your world files during resets. It is highly recommended to back up your worlds in some other way before using Homerun. Homerun will persist old worlds and avoid deleting worlds, but it is still a good idea to have backups in case something goes wrong.

Chunk blending
Chunk blending is a Minecraft 1.18+ feature that allows for smoother transitions between chunks of different biomes and terrain. In prior versions of Minecraft, when a chunk is generated, it may not match the surrounding chunks leading to abrupt changes in terrain. Chunk blending helps to create a more natural and seamless transition between these chunks.

Homerun makes use of chunk blending to ensure that when chunks are reset, they blend seamlessly with the surrounding terrain. Without chunk blending, resetting chunks could lead to noticeable seams or abrupt changes in the world, which can be visually jarring for players. This applies to all reset rules, regardless of dimension (Overworld, Nether, or End).

This blending isn't seamless; you might still see some floating leaves or cut-off trees. But this is a lot better than a hard cut between the retained chunks and surrounding terrain. This is sometimes more noticeable if you use other world generation datapacks or mods, like Terralith.
